Collection of various tricks specific to the amd64 architecture.

Firefox and 32-bit only plugins

• Do not use the firefox-bin package. This 32-bit version of the browser is somehow unstable on Gentoo, and also won't integrate well with your whole desktop (themes etc only work for "normal" 64-bit applications).

• The solution is to install (emerge) nspluginwrapper, which allows you to run 32 bit plugins on a Firefox 64 bit browser.
