This server is now obsolete and no longer serving stuff. Legacy stuff remains listed here.

Installed Software

  • Kernel 2.6.34 (vanilla)

Hardware

  • CPU: Intel Core 2 6400 @ 2.13GHz
  • Motherboard: ASUS P5-B (3 years warranty). Based on a Intel P965 chipset (ICH8 on Southbridge). Supports DDR-2 RAM, PCI-Express. BIOS version 0701.
  • RAM: 1 * 2GB DDR-2 @ 800Mhz (Transcend) + 1 * 1GB DDR-2 @ 667Mhz (Corsair)
  • HD: 1 * 1.5TB @ 7200rpm (Seagate) + 1 * 1TB @ 7200rpm (Seagate) + 1 * 250GB @ 7200rpm (Seagate)
  • PCI Wifi 802.11g. Atheros Chipset (AR2413), MSI manufacturer (PCI54G3 - II).

Sound ports on Front

  • The input (recording) port does not seem to work, maybe it has not been linked to the motherboard sound card properly.

Configuration

AHCI Configuration

  • The motherboard chipset supports AHCI. On Linux this is supported perfectly out of the box with recent kernel versions, however on Windows XP an official driver is not available so you must use a fake one. Here is a link to a package I created. You must then go to the Device Manager, and install the driver from there.
  • Note that if you do not install these AHCI drivers, Windows will not boot if AHCI mode is enabled in the BIOS. You will have to fall back to IDE mode.

Wifi Configuration

  • The Atheros PCI card is supported by madwifi-ng driver or ath5k. ath5k is a much better option as it is newer, and present in the main kernel tree.
